September 2008 Archives

mayor_rests_installed_01-1.jpg Here is an image of the Mayor Rests now on display at the Albuqueruqe Art Museum: The Mayor Rests will be on display beginning Sat. Sept 27th, 2008. Here is the show info: Southwest Biennial The Albuquerque Museum Private Opening Saturday, September 27, 2008 6 - 8 pm By invitation only; no invite, no admission Public Opening Sunday, September 28, 2008 Museum hours are 9 am - 5 pm; (Museum admission is free all day Sunday, September 28) Juror Panel Discussion 1 - 2 pm Punch and cookies reception 2 - 4 pm

After scaling down the size (by request of the curator), the Mayor's sign looks huge out of context.
Mayor_rests_Sign_scale-1.jpg "Better Value Begins with Change" is a simple bit of word play meant to allude to the absurdity of a universal value system, a two party electoral system representing 300 million people, and the intrinsic value of a 49 cent - 700 calorie upgrade. Many thanks to Marc Wilson and Art & Advertising Signs in Albuquerque for the vinyl work.

I've spent the week wrestling with a 14 foot tall cheeseburger-headed politician. Today, I happy to report that I won the battle. Many thanks to my buddy Sean Pope and his superhuman abilities to manipulate steel; the Mayor now "rests" somewhat uncomfortably straddling a 1" square tube steel post.

Waiting for Nothing

I wait for nothing all the time. What's worse: when I am am waiting for something, nothing shows up with steadfast reliability.
